I don’t know about you or your family but many try to get together this time of the year, for a family reunion. Maybe it’s a Southern tradition, I don’t know for sure. It’s something we people here in the USA do to keep family traditions alive, and to keep the families strong down through the years.
A good many people show up, and there is an outstanding amount of food, and beverages to indulge in. Passing by the food table more than once is something many do, because they may not get another chance to partake a piece of that special cake or pie. Grandma, made that and it’s like no one else’s. Everyone gets to see family members, they haven’t seen in year’s and swap memories of their childhood days with each other.
Just what makes these people do all this in horrible hot heat from the August sun, I don’t know. But here they will be each year, sitting out in a public park, sweating, drinking water, tea or cokes to hydrate, and trying to fan the hot air for some relief. You will see lawn chairs everywhere, coolers filled with iced down drinks, food on the picnic tables, with flies buzzing above trying to get a snack and people playing games or just sitting and talking. I still can’t understand the need to suffer through the heat at the risk of over exposure and possible stroke?
