Too Much…….

Filed under: Meat, Bread, Soups - Administrator @ 5:26 pm

When I cook, it seems there’s always too much left over and I either eat on it several days, or opt to freeze it in portions.  This becomes a problem as well, since I rarely get into the freezer to look for something that’s already cooked.  I always go for something that’s fresh……..so, therefore I have lots of food, considered "leftovers" in my freezer. I must clean it out one day soon. emoticon

No Christmas Meal

Filed under: Other - Administrator @ 7:43 pm

I will never believe what happened this year?  It was a mix of crap that my family came into doing.  Therefore, no one was into the Christmas spirit and into cooking.  Domestic drama has caused too much crap in my family this year and I look forward to the new year being something much better…….emoticon

I’m Lazy

It’s gotten to the point that I hate to cook, lately.  Being single and living alone makes for too much food when you cook, unless your ready to freeze several servings for later use.  The microwave oven has become our best friend these days, with takeout food following right behind.  It’s much easier to drive through a restaurant and get a burger or salad than it is to take the time to fix it at home.  I try to keep sandwich fixings around the house, but all too soon, they deplete and once again I go for the Drive Thru’s locally.  emoticon  Really if you think about it………that’s a much faster way to eat on the go…….maybe not as healthy but faster.

The Family

I don’t know about you or your family but many try to get together this time of the year, for a family reunion.  Maybe it’s a Southern tradition, I don’t know for sure.  It’s something we people here in the USA do to keep family traditions alive, and to keep the families strong down through the years.

A good many people show up, and there is an outstanding amount of food, and beverages to indulge in.  Passing by the food table more than once is something many do, because they may not get another chance to partake a piece of that special cake or pie.  Grandma, made that and it’s like no one else’s. Everyone gets to see family members, they haven’t seen in year’s and swap memories of their childhood days with each other.

Just what makes these people do all this in horrible hot heat from the August sun, I don’t know.  But here they will be each year, sitting out in a public park, sweating, drinking water, tea or cokes to hydrate, and trying to fan the hot air for some relief.  You will see lawn chairs everywhere, coolers filled with iced down drinks, food on the picnic tables, with flies buzzing above trying to get a snack and people playing games or just sitting and talking.  I still can’t understand the need to suffer through the heat at the risk of over exposure and possible stroke?
